Accomplishments as Mayor

Under Henry's leadership as Mayor, the city delivered a broad range of infrastructure, policy, and community-building improvements.

  • 100% attendance at Thorold city council meetings during the four-year term
  • Constructed a new outdoor aquatic centre at Richmond Street Park
  • Constructed a new splash pad in Port Robinson
  • Constructed a new splash pad at McMillan Park
  • Constructed a new splash pad at McAdam Park
  • Constructed new accessible playground equipment in Hutt Park
  • Constructed new playground equipment at Allanburg Community Centre
  • Hosted the William Hamilton Merritt Celebration event twice in the last four years
  • Installed new baseball scoreboards at McMillan Park and Sullivan Park
  • Made extensive arena upgrades including rubberized matting throughout the arenas
  • Created an economic website to attract business
  • Received a grant from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to establish an economic development strategy
  • Assisted Thorold Exolon Park to obtain a grant from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to undertake redevelopment

As Regional Councillor, Henry worked to secure regional support and funding for key city priorities.

  • Uploaded Collier Road to the Region of Niagara
  • Secured funding for the Collier/Richmond intersection upgrades for the City of Thorold
  • Supported the arterial road review with three additional city roads uploaded to the Region of Niagara
  • Advanced the Public Open Spaces Recycling Program concept and secured Thorold as a pilot community
  • Secured Region of Niagara funding for the City of Thorold rain barrel program
  • Secured Region of Niagara funding for bike lanes in the City of Thorold
